US-based technology company C Spire has announced that it is pulling its advertisements from the Paris 2024 Olympics following a performance at the opening ceremony that depicted Leonardo da Vinci's "Last Supper," citing disrespect towards religious beliefs.
In a statement on C Spire's social media account, the company expressed shock at the depiction of "Last Supper" during the opening ceremony, saying, "We are deeply disturbed by the mockery of 'Last Supper' at the Paris Olympics." They added, "C Spire is pulling its ads from the Olympics."
The performance, which featured a drag queen interpretation of "The Last Supper," has been criticized for disrespecting religious beliefs. The French Catholic Church also condemned the performance, stating, "Unfortunately, the ceremony included scenes mocking Christianity, and we deeply regret this situation."
