The discussion focused on regional developments, particularly in Lebanon, Gaza Strip, and Sudan, as well as bilateral relations.Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid stated that Dr. Abdel-Aty emphasized the importance of supporting the Lebanese state, maintaining its stability, and safeguarding the interests of the Lebanese people. Blinken appreciated Egypt's efforts and engagements with various parties to de-escalate tensions in Lebanon.The conversation also addressed the situation in the Gaza Strip. Abdel-Aty reaffirmed Egypt's call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, the entry of humanitarian aid, and a comprehensive vision for the final resolution of the Palestinian issue. Both parties discussed ongoing efforts to promote ceasefire negotiations and enable prisoner exchanges, highlighting the importance of supporting the Palestinian Authority and intensifying the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.Abu Zeid noted that the call also covered current efforts to resolve the crisis in Sudan, with both sides expressing the desire to allow the distribution of humanitarian aid throughout Sudan. These efforts aim to achieve an urgent and comprehensive ceasefire and provide relief and humanitarian assistance to the Sudanese people.Additionally, the spokesperson mentioned that Dr. Abdel-Aty emphasized Egypt's interest in strengthening and developing relations with the US.
