Turkish Energy Commission members visit UK
delegation of Turkish lawmakers ended a two-day visit here Wednesday for the 25th anniversary of the International Sugar Organizations (ISO) seminar.
Relevant stakeholders in the sugar and ethanol sectors addressed key issues.
Members of the Turkish parliament Energy Commission also met with the Turkish British Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TBCCI) and Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association in the UK (MUSIAD UK) as part of the visit.
Following meetings, the group held a press conference at the Turkish embassy in central London where the head of the Energy Commission, Ziya Altunyaldiz of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party MP, emphasized the importance of the bilateral trade volume between Turkey and the U.K.
"The U.K. is Turkey's second largest export market after Germany. Despite global problems, our exportation to the U.K. continues to grow,” he said.
Regarding the historic Brexit vote earlier this year, Altunyaldız said Turkish authorities would closely monitor the process of a free trade agreement with the U.K. once the country leaves the bloc.
The Turkish delegation was led by Altunyaldiz and included party representatives Ali Ercoskun, Metin Bulut, Osman Boyraz; Nationalist Movement Party’s (MHP) Emin Haluk Ayhan and Republican People's Party’s (CHP) Kazim Arslan.AA
