Turkey's Erkan wins gold in Worlds
Turkish athlete Enes Erkan became the gold medalist in the men's 84-kilogram event in the World Senior Karate Championships held in Paris on Saturday.

Erkan defeated his Azerbaijani opponent, Şahin Atamov, 3-0 to clinch the world title at the Paris Bercy Sports Hall. Erkan became the first Turkish karateka to win a senior title since 2006.

Youth and Sports Minister Suat Kılıç called the athlete to congratulate him on his gold medal. On Saturday, the Turkish team won three more medals. Serap Özçelik and Yavuz Karamollaoğlu won bronze medals while Şeyda Burucu took silver at the competition. (Cihan/Todays Zaman) CİHAN
