Trabzon-Eskişehir clash concludes week 13 of Super League
Trabzonspor (5-4-3) is firmly back into this season's Spor Toto Super League championship contention after winning its last two matches. The Black Sea Storm, as Trabzonspor is popularly called, is therefore in an upbeat mood as it hosts Eskişehirspor in the final week 13 match at Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium on Monday evening.

The Storm has not tasted defeat since week 10, when it conceded two goals in the last five minutes to lose 2-1 away to Medical Park Antalyaspor. But Şenol Güneş's Trabzonspor rebounded in week 11 to beat Aegean newcomer Akhisar Belediyespor 3-1 at home and Orduspor 2-1 away in a Black Sea derby the following week.

Ersun Yanal's Eskişehirspor (5-3-4) has been winless in its last two matches, losing 1-0 away against Sivasspor in week 11 and drawing at home in week 1-1 with 10-man Fenerbahçe in week 12. And so if Eskişehirspor drops points at Avni Aker, dissenting voices against Yanal could grow louder.

This, therefore, gives added importance to the Trabzonspor-Eskişehirspor clash on Monday evening. The Storm wants to make it three victories in as many matches and Eskişehirspor would not like to go home without a win in three outings.

Coach Güneş has a relative very fit team. Three midfielders nursing minor injuries -- Abidjan-born Ivorian Alain Didier Zokora-Deguy, Serkan Balcı and Pole Adrian Mierzejewski -- trained with the rest of the team this week.

But Yanal has a host of walking wounded to deal with: French-born forward Mikail Albayrak, center back Sezgin Coşkun, former Beşiktaş winger Erkan Zengin and keeper Gökhan Siverek missed training sessions this week.

Three precious points are at stake at Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadium; may the better side win. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. and the referee will be Tolga Özkalfa. (Cihan/Todays Zaman) CİHAN
