Rendezvous film fest offers assorted program in 15th year
İstanbul's cinephiles are being offered a seven-day treat with the Rendezvous International Film Festival, currently marking its 15th edition in three cinemas across the city's European side.

The seven-day program, which got under way on Friday, offers a 38-title selection in screenings at the Beyoğlu Fitaş and Levent Kanyon movie theaters as well as the French Cultural Center in Taksim.

Films on the bill include "Anna Karenina," the newest take on the Leo Tolstoy masterpiece starring Keira Knightley and Jude Law; the French-Portuguese historical drama "The Lines of Wellington"; and the documentary "A Special Day," which offers an insider look at the Cannes film festival through the lens of festival director Gilles Jacob.

The assorted program also features the monster movie "Gabbers," directed by British filmmaker Jon Wright; "38 Witnesses," a French adaptation of Didier Decoin's novel, inspired by the 1964 murder of Kitty Genovese; and "Indie Game: The Movie," a documentary that follows the journeys of indie game developers as they create games and release those works.

The festival will close with "Lawless," a crime drama directed by John Hillcoat with a screenplay by Nick Cave.

Short films and documentaries on the program are shown in free-admission screenings at the French Cultural Center. For the full program, check the festival's website, www.randevuistanbul.com. (Cihan/Today's Zaman) CİHAN
