Fire in mine injures 9 workers in Manisa
A fire that broke out at a mine in the Aegean province of Manisa on Saturday night due to a dust explosion has injured nine workers.

The explosion and ensuing fire took place at a mine in the village of Darkale in Manisa's Soma district. The injured workers were taken to Soma Beşyol State Hospital. Of the nine injured workers, two sustained serious injuries and were transferred to other hospitals after receiving first aid in the state hospital. Some miners have claimed that there were no safety measures in place at the mine, which was inspected by officials following the explosion. The gendarmerie has launched an investigation into the incident.

This is not the first time the mine has been the scene of a fire. On Oct. 4 another fire broke out and injured nine workers. A fire also erupted at the mine, which has been visited by Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, last year, claiming one life and leaving three injured.
