Turkish workers kidnapped in Iraq
Construction workers seized by men in military uniform in capital Baghdad, Turkish deputy PM says
18 Turkish workers were kidnapped in Iraq's capital on Wednesday, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus has confirmed.
He said they were working for a Turkish construction company operating in Baghdad.
Nurol Holding has confirmed in a written statement that 18 of its workers were abducted by unidentified men in military fatigues that raided its construction site for a stadium project in Sadr city, a suburb of Baghdad.
On June 11 last year, 49 Turkish hostages -- diplomats, consular officials and their families -- were kidnapped from the Mosul consulate, a day after Daesh took control of Iraq's second-largest city.
