Turkish deputy pm attends African media leaders forum
Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc attended African Media Leaders Forum in Dakar, Senegal


Arinc delivered a speech at the opening of the forum and the panel titled "Strengthening Media and Governance Through Citizens' Engagement and Innovation".

Arinc drew attention to the importance of media in the fields of dialogue and establishing peace.

He said that politicians should allow freedom in the media and added that media must not serve the propaganda of the terror.

He stated that Turkish media was based on the criteria of the European Convention on Human Rights and decisions of the European Court of Human Rights.

In order to form a media platform, a cooperation protocol was signed between the Turkish Directorate General of Press and Information and African Media Forum.

Anadolu Agency's Director General and Executive Board Chairman Kemal Ozturk, Turkish Radio & Television TRT's Director General Ibrahim Sahin and Press & Information Director General Murat Karakaya participated in the forum as well.
