Turkey's EXPO-hopeful city, Izmir, will make its case on Thursday why it should be chosen to host the 2020 edition of the world's fair.

Turkey's EXPO-hopeful city, Izmir, will make its case on Thursday why it should be chosen to host the 2020 edition of the world's fair.
Presentations for the candidate countries are scheduled for today at a General Assembly meeting of the International Exhibitions Bureau in Paris.
Candidates along with Turkey's western port city of Izmir are Russia's Yekaterinburg, Thailand's Ayutthaya, Brazil's Sao Paulo, and the United Arab Emirates' Dubai.
"Izmir is the most promising candidate with its climate conditions, geographical positioning, its flora and its proximity to major cities of the world," Ertugrul Gunay, Turkey's culture and tourism minister, told The Anadolu Agency.
Gunay said the Turkish government extended full support to Izmir's candidacy, adding that he would attend Thursday's meeting in Paris.The voting for the 2020 EXPO host will be held next year in November.
