Turkey: 4 pilots dead in aircraft crash
Two military RF-4E aircrafts lost contact during reconnaissance flights in Turkey's Malatya province.
Four pilots have been found dead on Tuesday in the wreckage of two Turkish military aircrafts, Interior Minister Efkan Ala has said.
Two military RF-4E aircrafts lost contact during reconnaissance flights in the Akcadag district of Turkey's south-eastern Malatya province.
"The bad news has given us a deep sorrow," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a letter of condolence to the family of the victims.
Erdogan phoned Turkey's Chief of Staff, General Necdet Ozel, to get information on the incident and expressed his condolences to the Turkish army.
Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek also has sent a letter of condolence to the Chief of Air Staff, General Akin Ozturk.
Rescue teams as well as fire crew, ambulances and gendarmerie were sent to the scene of the crash immediately after local people reported explosions.
Heavy fog in the region prevented the vehicles from reaching the area.
