Stakes for Izmir high for EXPO 2020
Turkey's EXPO-hopeful city Izmir's chance is high for being chosen as the host of the 2020 edition of the world's fair, said SG of the International Exhibitions Bureau.

Turkey's EXPO-hopeful city Izmir's chance is high for being chosen as the host of the 2020 edition of the world's fair, said SG of the International Exhibitions Bureau (IEB) Vicente Gonzales Loscertales in Paris.
Loscertales told AA correspondent that support of the Turkish government, local administrations, private sector and NGOs to Izmir was very important.
Reminding Milan edged out Izmir in the previous voting, Loscartales said that Izmir's being more experienced and determined increases its chance to get elected.
Izmir will make its 3rd presentation on Thursday at a General Assembly meeting of the IEB in Paris.
The presentation will include the talks of Turkey's Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay, Izmir Governor Cahit Kirac and the founding member of the UN interagency support group for the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, and CHP Istanbul deputy Safak Pavey as well as the screening of two films promoting Izmir's candidacy.
Anadolu Agency Executive Board Director and Director General Kemal Ozturk will also watch the presentation along with the representatives of media outlets.
Candidates along with Turkey's western port city of Izmir are Russia's Yekaterinburg, Thailand's Ayutthaya, Brazil's Sao Paulo, and the United Arab Emirates' Dubai.
The voting for the 2020 EXPO host will be held next year in November.
