Palestinian child killed, Gaza death toll rises to 2100
A Palestinian child was killed in Israeli shelling of the Gaza Strip on Saturday, taking the death toll from Israel's weeks-long offensive to 2100, according to a Health Ministry spokesman.

"An 8-year-old child was killed when Israeli forces shelled a house in the central Deir al-Balah town," Ashraf al-Qodra told Anadolu Agency.

The latest fatality brings to eight the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Saturday.

At least 2100 Palestinians have been killed and 10,597 injured in relentless Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since July 7.

According to al-Qodra, the fatalities included 564 children, 65 women and 99 elderly people.

Israel resumed airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday following the collapse of indirect, Egypt-hosted talks aimed at hammering out a permanent ceasefire deal.

While Israel accused Palestinian resistance factions of breaking the ceasefire with a rocket barrage, Hamas accused Israel of attempting to derail the truce talks in Cairo.

Since hostilities began on July 7, at least 68 Israelis – 64 soldiers and four civilians – have been killed, according to Israeli figures.
