Pakistan flooding kills 140
140 killed over past two weeks in Pakistan and 800,000 affected by flooding as officials say

At least 26 people have been killed by heavy flooding in Pakistan since Sunday, taking the number of dead over the past two weeks to over 140.

Fresh flood warnings were issued across the country on Monday after a fresh spell of rains and flash floods played havoc in parts of all four provinces, leaving swathes of agricultural lands and low-lying residential areas inundated.

"We have confirmed reports of 116 deaths but more casualties have been reported from Khyber Pakthunwa and Baluchistan provinces due to last night's rains, which we are trying to confirm," Ahmad Kamal, a disaster authority spokesman, told Anadolu Agency.

Half of the deaths have been reported from Khyber Pakhtunwa and its tourist valley of Chitral near the Afghan border, where thousands are still stranded due to the destruction of connecting bridges and roads.

According to Kamal, over 800,000 people have been affected by the recent floods and "unpredictable" rains across Pakistan.
