Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak has announced that he would quit politics after the general elections which will be held in two months.

JERUSALEM

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak has announced that he would quit politics after the general elections which will be held in two months.

Barak told a press conference on Monday that he would not run for 2013 elections, ending a long career.

Saying he would not return to politics, Barak added he would like to write and enjoy life from now on.

Barak served as the Chief of General Staff between 1991-1995, FM between 1995-1996, PM between 1999-2001 and deputy PM and defense minister between 2007- 2012.
