Greece: Ship sends distress signal in Adriatic Sea
Greek and Italian maritime authorities are once more on alert after a distress call was sent out by a ship sailing near the Greek island Corfu.
The ship is sailing west of the Greek island of Corfu, according to the initial reports.
Athens news agency reported that a frigate of armed special forces officers and a S-70 Skorsky helicopter were sent to the area following reports that some armed individuals might have been seen onboard the Moldova flagged ship.
There are no specific details on the number of passengers so far.
Some reports also suggested that it is a cargo ship carrying illegal immigrants.
