Real Madrid humiliate Granada 9-1 at home, Portuguese star Ronaldo finds the net five times

Real Madrid tore Granada apart with an extravagant 9-1 score at their home, Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in La Liga match on Sunday.

Home team Real Madrid made a flying start to the game when Gareth Bale scored in the 25th minute. Madrid team's Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo made a hat-trick in eight minutes (in 31’, 36’ and 38’) and determined the result of the first half: 4-0.

Real Madrid dominating the game until the final whistle increased the gap more and more. Karim Benzema and Ronaldo each scored twice in second half. In addition, Granada's Diego Mainz scored an own goal in 83th minute.

Meanwhile visitors' Granada scored their consolation goal in 74’ when Robert Ibanez put the ball into the net.

Ronaldo scored five goals in a match for the first in his career and he is leading La Liga's top scorers list with 36 goals. Rivals Barcelona's star Lionel Messi comes in second with 32 goals.

Real Madrid raised their points to 67 and secured the second spot in the league led by Barcelona with 68 points.

Leaders Barcelona will be playing away to Celta Vigo on Sunday night. The game will kick off at 21.00 CET (2000 GMT).
