8 Arrested in Operation against KCK in Van
Eight individuals, including the head of a city council, were arrested as part of an operation conducted against the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) in the eastern province of Van on Thursday.

Security officials launched an operation at the order of the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's office against the KCK, which is an umbrella organization that includes the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Out of 30 people who were detained in the operation, eight were arrested including Semiha Varlı, the head of Van City Council, on charges of membership in a terrorist organization. The other detainees were released pending trial.

The KCK includes the terrorist PKK's youth organizations, including the İstanbul-based Patriotic Democratic Youth (YDG) and the Patriotic Democratic Youth Council (YDGM), which are defined by the Supreme Court of Appeals as terrorist organizations.
