12 unreleased Jimi Hendrix songs to debut March 5
A new Jimi Hendrix album is coming on March 5, according to the musician's official website which has announced that the album consists of the guitarist's unreleased tracks.

The website says "People, Hell and Angels" contains 12 previously unreleased tracks recorded in 1968 and '69. Rolling Stone unveiled the album cover on its website on Wednesday.

Hendrix recorded the songs apart from the Jimi Hendrix Experience as he considered new, experimental directions for his follow-up to "Electric Ladyland." He plays keyboards, percussion and a second guitar on the album.

Legendary musician Hendrix was named the greatest guitar player in history in 2011 by Rolling Stone magazine in a list compiled by a panel of music experts and top guitar players. "Jimi Hendrix exploded our idea of what rock music could be: He manipulated the guitar, the whammy bar, the studio and the stage," said Grammy-winning guitarist Tom Morello in the magazine, citing Hendrix's "Purple Haze" and "The Star-Spangled Banner" as key tracks.
